Generative AI reached 100 million monthly active users in January 2023, just two months after launch, making it the fastest-growing consumer application in history. Since then, we have seen an explosion of AI platforms and tools. The challenge for organisations is how deliver meaningful business benefits and move past the hype, in an ever-changing landscape.
Using AI in a meaningful way means data – useful data – and a lot of it. Organisations need their data estates capable of creating innovation across their whole technology ecosystem. This can be a challenging prospect for many organisations whose data environments have grown organically over time. This is where Microsoft Fabric comes into play.
Data Addiction has been privileged to be a part of the private preview for Microsoft Fabric, and we’re really excited about what this will bring to our customers now that it has been launched to the public
“We are amid two generational changes in Data & AI: Fabric and Generative AI. We have always prided ourselves on the adopting of new technology and are excited about the difference we can make for our customers” – Sunny Rehill, CTO – Data Addiction
Why Microsoft Fabric?
Microsoft Fabric is a unified data platform designed for enterprises, encompassing everything from data movement to data science, Real-Time Analytics, and business intelligence. The unified platform helps reduce the overall complexity of solutions as well as speed up implementation timeframes.
Organisations can position themselves to seamlessly adapt and scale their data infrastructure in response to their evolving business needs, ensuring agility and efficiency in the ever-evolving landscape of technology and data management.
Functionality that we’re particularly excited about:
- Adoption of the Lakehouse architecture: We have been strong supporters of the Lakehouse architecture and its benefits. It leverages the inherent elasticity of cloud computing. It will not only harness the flexibility and scalability offered by cloud environments but also create a forward-thinking approach in your data management.
- Use of the DeltaLake format at its core: It adopts the use of the leading open-source storage format, allowing data to be stored once and used by a wide ecosystem of tools, such as Databricks.
- A central home for data using OneLake: Simplifies the centralisation of data. With functionality such as shortcuts and mirroring, it allows you to get your data in one place, fast.
- Analyse data directly from the Lake using DirectLake: Power BI can now analyse data directly from the Delta Lake files without having to import it into the Power BI model. This significantly simplifies implementations.
LakeFlow Accelerator
Our Accelerator “LakeFlow” is a service providing data engineering at its best. Combined with our processes, automation and experience we can stand-up and maintain a data estate 50% faster than traditional manual techniques. LakeFlow creates reliable, consistent, and monitored solutions automatically. This service has now been updated to support Fabric.
We’re excited to announce that in the near future, LakeFlow will ship with Generative AI capabilities, allowing us to accelerate the creation of data estates to be even quicker. Watch this space for further announcements.
